Santa Claus will be chilling out in Margaret River region for a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Word on the street is the he can be found be at Margaret River Shopping Centre.

Centre managing director Matthew McNeilly said bringing Santa Claus back to Margaret River was something they felt was important for the community.

“Nothing means more to families at this time of year than to be able to meet with the big fella in the red suit to tell him whether you’ve been naughty or nice and what you’d like him to put under the tree for you,” said Mr McNeilly.

“As the new owner of the Margaret River Shopping Centre we discovered quickly that residents hadn’t been able to do that for a number of years and we thought it would be great to convince Santa to come back.

“Given what the weather is like at his place at the moment, he jumped at the chance to get some sand between his toes for a couple of weeks."

Santa will be at Margaret River Shopping Centre between December 17 and 23 between 2pm and 5pm daily.

Mr McNeilly said the Margaret River Shopping Centre would become a haven for new businesses.

“Our longterm goal is for the centre to be an important part of Margaret River’s retail community, helping new local businesses to become established and for them to grow and succeed which will have a flow on effect for the local economy.

“Over the coming months visitors to the centre will see new stores opening and we’re specifically looking to support businesses that fit the Margaret River culture and which will add to the retail choices for locals and visitors,” he said.
